The PEI Awards voting process is changing this year. No longer will the winners and runners up be decided by popular vote; instead, a senior group of PEI Group editorial staff will deliberate, based on your submissions and our own market intel and outreach.
We are pleased to introduce this year’s judging panel for the PEI Awards 2024.
Philip Borel is editorial director of PEI Group. He was part of the MBO team that acquired PEI from Delinian, formerly Euromoney Institutional Investor, in 2001. He leads the company’s global editorial and research and analytics teams. Born and raised in Germany, Philip moved to Britain in 1993. He’s a graduate of the University of York and the London School of Economics.
Madeleine Farman is a senior reporter for PEI Group’s Private Equity International and Secondaries Investor titles, based in London. Prior to joining PEI, she had covered private equity, private capital and advisers associated with the industry for other newsrooms and publications since 2016. Originally from New Zealand, Madeleine began her career in radio in Auckland.
Mary Kathleen (MK) Flynn serves as the Editor-in-Chief of PE Hub, which covers private equity deals and dealmakers in North America and Europe. In addition to its website, PE Hub produces the popular Wire daily newsletters, which have a circulation of 65,000 readers. MK joined PEI Group in 2021 and leads an editorial team of reporters based in New York and London. She has covered private equity for more than 20 years. Previously, MK served as Editor-in-Chief of Mergers & Acquisitions and held editorial positions at The Deal, CNN, MSNBC, US News & World Report and PC Magazine.
Adam Le is senior editor, EMEA, for PEI Group’s private equity publications, overseeing the flow of global news and analysis for Private Equity International and Secondaries Investor. Based in London, Adam works closely with private equity-focused colleagues across PEI’s offices in New York, London and Hong Kong. Prior to PEI, his roles included reporting on finance and technology for Bloomberg Japan.
Alex Lynn is PEI Group’s Hong Kong Bureau Chief, leading coverage of Asia-Pacific private markets for Private Equity International and editing the title’s daily premium Side Letter newsletter. He joined PEI Group in 2017 and previously covered the EMEA region from its London office.
Craig McGlashan is the Europe Editor of PE Hub. Based in London, he oversees the European output of PE Hub, covers private equity deals and trends, and writes profile pieces on dealmakers. He joined PEI Group in 2022. Before that, he held several positions at GlobalCapital, including as SSA Editor, writing about the public sector debt markets.
Richard Melville is editorial director, US at PEI Group. He joined PEI in 2020 to lead the company’s US editorial teams. Based in New York, he oversees private equity, private debt, venture capital, and regulation and compliance. Prior to joining PEI, his leadership roles included group editorial director for banking and capital markets at Arizent (formerly SourceMedia), managing editor for American Banker and Wall Street editor for Reuters.
Chris Witkowsky is an editor at PEI Group. He focuses on LP coverage and his responsibilities have spanned Buyouts and PE Hub, the leading publication for North American private equity.
